We welcome all children into our happy and secure, caring and exciting learning environment
Our aim
Is to provide a safe and caring environment for your child. Our qualified and dedicated members of staff will encourage your child to learn autonomously and as part of a group. We will support children to develop a sense of responsibility and grow in independence. Children in our care are encouraged to use their imagination and to ask questions. We embrace children's own interests into their learning experiences, providing an excellent foundation for personal growth and development both now and in the future.
We teach through offering real-life experiences as we believe that children learn most from such experiences.
Our Ethos At Yumbo Is "The Outdoors"
Children take part in regular exercise and our day begins each day with PE every morning, either in the nursery garden or at the park opposite the Church.
We access many outside resources, such as the local Bocking Gardens Park, Country Parks, Farms, Garden Centres, Colchester Zoo, Boydales Farm, Gruffalo Trail, Hanningfield Reservoir, Abberton Reservoir, Mersea Island, South End Sea Life Centre, Soft Play and Braintree swimming pool along with regular twice weekly visits to story time at the local library.
Children will have the opportunity to take part in Forest and Coastal School and go swimming. Outings are arranged to various places of interest such as Museums, Tiptree Jam factory, Heybridge Basin, Castles, Fruit Picking, Fire Station, and much more.
Resources within the setting are organized so that they are readily accessible to children and supports children’s play and learning. Exciting activities are planned each day.
First hand experiences allow children to build upon on their natural curiosity as learners. Our week is planned around the children we have each day and the ages of the children.
During the school holidays this will vary to our normal routine in the school term. Each day the children will take part in an activity or outing which will be planned. After lunch, there is a quiet time whilst the younger children have a nap. We have a separate room which is used for babies and younger children to sleep.
The children will enjoy a small snack and will be offered to take part in the afternoon activity.
All activities will be centered on the children learning through play and will reflect any of the current themes, festivals, events, holidays and so on appropriate to that time of year.
Morning and afternoon activities include outdoor play which will occur at least once a day.
Children benefit from consistent care. Many children who join the setting will remain in our care until they move onto school. Providing a stable happy and secure environment provides children with firm foundations as they progress through the early years and move onto school.
We help children to recognize the richness of a life with diversity, hope and knowledge that everyone is special.
Children develop quickly in the Early Years and our Early Years practitioners aim to help children have the best possible start. Providing play activities and learning experiences that are appropriate to each child’s age and development.
We work under the umbrella of the EYFS Statutory Framework which incorporates 7 areas of learning.
Working in Partnership with parents is crucial for the development of each child, we form excellent relationships with our parent's.
